Fashion Star: Love it or Leave it?

Even in my flu induced fever I had to tune into the premiere of NBC’s Fashion Star last night. Wondering how many of you tuned in and what you thought? I am still a little on the fence about the show, there were some things I loved  but some of the show was very hard to watch.

The Good:

  • Mentors: Loved Jessica, John, and Nicole, they make a great trio of mentors and some of their comments had me dying laughing. (How great was it hearing Jessica say she wanted to slap the chauvinist?)
  • Fashion: Fashion shows always have great unique looks but I really like that this show focuses on items that will appeal to people of different shapes and sizes.
  • Love it Buy it: How great is it that you can buy the winners look the next day?! Some of the designs purchased last night sold out in under an hour!

The Bad:

  • Music: Not sure if it was just my fever talking but the music was horrendous.
  • Editing: Too many long shots, fog  and some parts of the show just dragged on. Hoping things will even out after the premiere episode.
  • Commercial Overload: The whole show kind of felt like it was yelling at me what to buy it was a  little over the top like a Superbowl commercial run long.
My favorite of the night was the Sarah Parrot dress for H & M, love the cut out in the back and the blue color is gorgeous!
What did you think, will you tune in again?

I watch part of it before I fell asleep. I did like the zipper skirt! And the comments from that guys designer about women and men’s fashion was pretty entertaining.

The zipper skirt was really cute, even at $350 at Saks it sold out in a few hours! That guy was very naive, Jessica and Nicole both have very successful fashion businesses I guess he learned his lesson.

I don’t think I will tune in again. Like you, I was so excited to watch this new show concept. I LOVE that the buyers buy on the spot and that we, the consumer, can purchase that night or the next day.

What I didn’t like is that there is too much going on and not enough substance. I felt like it was some combination of shows – a game show, a competition show and a reality show. But none of them were clearly defined. Unlike Project Runway, I was confused about their real challenge for the day and I don’t learn much about the contestants which is interesting since it was an hour and a half show.

I would have preferred if they used the format of the Shark Tank and every week have different designers.

In it’s current format, their is no way it will hold my attention. But that’s just my two cents.
