The leisurely days of summer are over, and it’s back to the books. The soothing sound of waves crashing on the sand is replaced by beeping alarm clocks and class bells—but don’t consider the fun totally done. Jemma Kidd, international make-up artist and award winning product designer, shares back to school beauty tips and tricks that are as easy as ABC.
Skin can feel tight and dehydrated after a day in the sun, so apply an intensive moisturizer to nourish and soothe, leaving skin smooth, plumped and less likely to peel. Use a hydrating face mask to restore moisture and help repair damage.
Face: As your tan fades, consider switching to a heavier-coverage foundation—on thoroughly moisturized skin a cream foundation won’t cake or look too thick. Apply it sparingly with fingers or a sponge and work it into the skin thoroughly. Your skin will probably get paler, and you should change your foundation or concealer to reflect that.

Eyes: I’m a huge fan of natural beauty in summer, but I like bringing in richer colors in the fall. Jewel and berry colors are fantastic for eyeshadow—try the brighter tones in a moisturizing cream shadow on the lid or to define the socket, as well as the smoky shades that look so sexy. Avoid too much pink, as this brings out redness in the eyes and skin.

Lips: Carry a wax balm and reapply frequently. Look for a lipgloss with moisturizers or vitamin E to protect the lips while adding shine. Treat yourself to a flattering red lipstick, preferably matte rather than gloss, so it is less easy to smudge.

Apply a touch of bronzer that naturally catch the sun. Powder bronzer can be brushed in a T-shape over the nose and forehead, with a little on the cheekbones, collarbones, décolletage and sides of the neck. For day use a light reflecting crème bronzer. Body moisturizers with added gold give a light glow to arms and legs.
