I love the Jemma Kidd line, very high quality makeup and beautiful color combinations.
Looking good at the beach can seem a challenging proposition…especially at the beginning of the summer. International make-up artist and award winning product designer Jemma Kidd offers tips for the beach-bound to feel confident and ready for the summer months ahead.
To get started, “Mix a little body shimmer into sunscreen to prevent skin from looking dull, and use make-up to define the eyes and add a healthy glow.”
For a day at the beach:
Eyes: Line the upper lash line with dark brown pencil for definition. Apply a shimmery peach eye shadow from the upper lash line to the socket crease. Add a little shimmer under the lower lash line using a gold eyeliner pencil. Apply dark brown waterproof mascara. (Try: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Define Stayput Eyeliner in Mahogany and Vintage Gold, Eye Essentials Shimmer Shadow in Peachie, and Lasting Tint: Semi Permanent, Waterproof Lash Colour in Brown)
Lips: Use a hydrating lip balm with a nude shimmering finish and high SPF to protect lips and keep them feeling moist despite sea spray and sun. Nude/brown tones are more flattering with a tan than red. (Try: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Ultimate Lip Care Protect & Shimmer SPF 12 in Nude)
Face: Apply sunscreen and layer sheer tinted moisturizer on top, blending it well. Pat on concealer as needed to cover blemishes or redness. Bring a natural flush to your cheeks by blending in pink cheek stain, which is water-resistant and will last longer than cream blush. If you need it, blend a little gold-toned highlighter or cream bronzer onto the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, chin and temples. (Try: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Mineral Skin Nourishing Tint SPF 20, Rosy Glow Lip & Cheek Tint, and Dual Illuminator Crème Highlighter & Shimmer Dust in Champagne)
From beach to bar:
Eyes: Draw along the upper and lower lash line with black eyeliner pencil. Apply bronze crème eye shadow over the lid and layer with bronze metallic pigment. Apply black mascara to define and thicken the lashes. (Try: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Define Stayput Eyeliner in Pitch, Crushed Jewel Crème Duo in Bronzite, and Lash Xtension Mascara)
Lips: Moisturize with nude lip balm and add a layer of non-sticky nude or soft pink lipgloss. (Try: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Hi-Shine Silk Touch Lipgloss in Shell)
Face: Apply a tinted moisturizer and concealer as needed, then lightly dust with a little translucent powder before sweeping a little bronzer over the cheekbones and temples. (Try: Jemma Kidd Make Up School Mineral Skin Nourishing Tint SPF 20, and Bronze Perfection Natural Skin)
