This Calvin Klein ad has been banned in Australia, do you agree?

The Advertising Standards Bureau in Australia has heard complaints from sexual assault workers that images in the Calvin Klein Jeans campaign starring Lara Stone and a slew of hot men connote gang rape. And they have decided that the images, which appear on a few billboards across the country, should be taken down. They explained in the case that the image is demeaning to not only women, but MEN, too!

“The Board considered that whilst the act depicted could be consensual, the overall impact and most likely takeout is that the scene is suggestive of violence and rape,’’’ it said.

“The Board considered that the image was demeaning to women by suggesting that she is a plaything of these men. It also demeans men by implying sexualised violence against women.”

Psychologist Alison Grundy, who works with sexual assault victims, offered her two cents: “If we continue to subject future generations of young men to great barrages of aggressive, misogynist, over-sexualised and violent imagery in pornography, movies, computer games and advertising, we will continue to see the rates of sexual violence against women and children that continue unabated today. Or worse.” Calvin Klein isn’t quite Grand Theft Auto, but what do you think?

Lancome Declares October 22, Genes Day!

Christina Hendricks, Julia Roberts and Lily Allen adore Lancome’s latest skin care product, Génifique Youth Activating Concentrate ($78- $98, sephora.com). The product has been shown in clinical trials to improve skin in 7 days. It evens out skin tone and improves texture.

On Friday, October 22, Lancome will donate $7.00 for every bottle bought to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to aid with scientific research. St. Jude is the first and only pediatric cancer center to be designated as a Comprehensive Cancer Center by the National Cancer Institute. St. Jude is the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for a treatment not covered by insurance—and no child is ever denied treatment because of the family’s inability to pay. St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fundraising organization.

If you’re in the market for a new anti-aging product, you may want to take a closer look at Lancome’s Genifique this Friday. You’ll not only pamper yourself, you’ll help someone else.

Kate Bosworth helps launch JewelMint Jewelry!

Kate Bosworth has joined forces with friend and celebrity stylist, Cher Coulter to launch JewelMint Jewelry.

JewelMint is a jewelry club. Cher and Kate design unique pieces for their customers, for just $29.95 a month. They will send you jewelry and styling tips to show you how to wear your pieces. The pair scour the runways and travel all over the world for inspiration.

Each month you receive personal selections to pick from. If you do not choose a piece of jewelry, you will not be charged.

I really like this idea. I’m not the best when it comes to picking out jewelry. So if I have jewelry sent to me – with a way to wear the pieces, I think I would like it a lot more!

What do you think of this idea? Would you try it?
