In an effort to further reinvent herself, Kelly Osbourne has vowed to remove most of her 15 tattoos hoping to match her ink to her new glamorous style. In her weekly column for Closer magazine, Kelly said:
They covered a few of them with make-up last week for a scene in my new film Should’ve Been Romeo — and I can’t say I missed them!
Celebuzz spoke with Dr. Will Kirby of Dr. TATTOFF (get it?) in Beverly Hills about what’s involved in laser tattoo removal. He tells us that while it is possible to successfully remove a tattoo without scarring, it is a relatively costly procedure that can take many visits.
In general, Kirby says, it costs 10 times more to remove a tattoo than it costs to ink that tattoo. TATTOFF charges $49 per square inch per visit for removal, an average price, but a tattoo can take between 5-15 visits to be fully removed.
Dr. Kirby describes the painful procedure as “tolerable,” and adds that many people with tattoos find inking to be an enjoyable, intimate process and, as a result, might not mind the pain of removal. Black and red — two colors of Kelly’s — are supposedly the easiest to remove.
The good news? The removal itself is a glorified zap, only taking 30 seconds.
It’s a fortunate thing tattoos aren’t forever because, in the words of Kelly,:
I was miserable and I just went and got all these tattoos and I don’t know why. One of them is a keyboard and I don’t even know how to play a piano!
