New- Cover GirlLash Blast Luxe!

lashblast_luxe_mascara_1.jpg

I have been smitten with Cover Girl’s Lash Blast mascara since I first tried it. I love how great my lashes look and how long it lasts with no flaking! It beats the $20 department store mascaras and even the highly praised Diorshow and at under $8 a tube a girl can look good even in the middle of a recession.

Now Cover Girl has gone and made a good thing better with their new Lash Blast Luxe. All the things we love about Lash Blast now with tinted luxe shimmers. Set to hit the shelves in February 09, I can’t wait to get my hands on one!

*Editors note I did find Lash Blast Luxe online at Drugstore.com though I have not seen it in my local drugstore yet.

Scarlett Johansson for Dolce & Gabbana.

23t2lwi1.jpg

Scarlett Johansson is the face of the new Dolce & Gabbana line of cosmetics, the Italian designing duo has revealed.

“Scarlett is sure of herself. She’s a beautiful girl, but she’s really easygoing. She is very Dolce & Gabbana.”

The Golden Globe-nominated actress was recently photographed for a series of sexy Marilyn Monroe-inspired print ads slated to debut on the pages of Fashion Bibles later this year.

“We see makeup as another thing for women, like a dress. We worked on the makeup line like we work on a clothing collection — you can change makeup like you can change your clothes, depending on your mood,” Stefano Gabbana told WWD on Friday.

The lipsticks will be scented with rose, Gabbana explained. “We wanted to create makeup with a scent. Domenico and I remember when we were children and opened our mother’s handbags — the scent of her lipstick trailed out. I observed that when women open makeup, they smell it first.”

Prices will range from $20 for nail lacquer to $59 for powder foundation.

D&G Makeup will launch this Spring.

Great start, flaky finish.

bionic-mascara.jpg

When I first applied Bionic Mascara I really loved it, my lashes looked fuller and longer. My problem was the longevity of the product. Even with my new tube within a few hours of  applying Bionic Mascara it would start to get dry and flake off. I am a little surprised I love so many of the Smashbox products and was disappointed this wasn’t as great as the rest of the line.

Smashbox Bionic Mascara
What it is:
An innovative ionic mascara.

What it does:
Smashbox Bionic is the first ionic mascara—it will leave you with longer, stronger, and more voluminous lashes! The specially-engineered brush coats lashes with our revolutionary long-wearing, water-resistant formula for a dramatic full lash. Aloe, silk, and wheat protein strengthen and condition.

How to have beautiful skin like Penelope Cruz!

penelope_cruz_arrives_at_the_66th_annual_golden_globe_awards-01_122_421lo.jpg

Celebs fly in from all over the world to see N.Y.C. salon owner Christine Chin. This celebrity esthetician is well-known for her meticulous skin treatments and counts Penelope Cruz, Kate Moss, Hilary Swank, Rachel Weisz and Kimora Lee Simmons as clients.

EXPERT TIP: To help to keep the skin clear in between facial appointments try using Christine Chin’s Smoothing Fluid. It gently cleans the skin of residue and dead cells and acts as a gentle at-home micro dermabrasion/detox peel that you can use day and night, after toner and under makeup. It is especially good for use after getting a professional microdermabrasion, as it keeps the skin free of old-skin and dirt residue on a daily basis and great for under the eye area as skin plaque tends to build up in the area.

Retinol – the purest form of anti-aging Vitamin A blens with a skin-renewing non-acid sugar complex to gently smooth surface wrinkles, even skin tone and restore your skin’s youthful texture within days.

Jessica Simpson’s beauty tip: Only wash your hair two to three times, a month!

97482_jessica_simpson_marie_claire_january_2009.jpg

Can you imagine!  I mean, I know you’re not supposed to wash your hair everyday.  I wash my hair probably 3 times a week… but three times a MONTH!? I can’t imagine how nasty your hair would get!  Especially if you keep layering on product!

Jessica Simpson keeps her blonde locks looking gorgeous by listening to her mane man, celebrity stylist Ken Paves. So when Ken – who also works with Eva Longoria Parker and Jennifer Lopez – told her to shampoo only two to three times a month, she took his advice. Unfortunately, though, it has gotten the singer into some hair situations. “Jess’ tresses are often greasy, but she hides it well, an insider tells Star. “She wears hats or reaches for the Hairdo, the clip-on extension line she created with Ken.” And if her hair starts to smell a bit funky, adds the insider, she just spritzes it with perfume – from her own line, of course!

Here is Jessica Simpson in January’s Marie Claire Magazine.  Enjoy!

Golden Globes Red Carpet Recap: Kate Winslet

gal_winslet.jpg

Celebrity makeup artist Jillian Dempsey did Lancôme ambassador Kate Winslet’s makeup and gave us the scoop on the makeup she used. Jillian wanted to play up Kate’s eyes, cheeks and lips. She used Jillian Dempsey for Avon Professional Kohl Eyeliner in Black on the upper lash line first and then applied dark brown eyeliner and smudged it on the lower lashes. Next, she lightly dusted Lancôme Color Design Eye Shadow in Chic on the eyelid.

To make Kate’s eyes pop, she added a few coats of Lancôme Ôscillation Mascara in Black. Next, Jillian added some color to the apples of the cheeks by custom blending several shades of coral, peachy blushes together. Jillian opted for a classic red lip and finished the look with Avon Pro-to-Go Lipstick in Cherry Glisten. Kate looked stunning as she accepted the first award of the night for Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Reader!
